We’re talking about us, episode 4: welcome to Antoine, fruit salesman

09 July 2024

As part of our drive to help you discover our businesses, and above all the men and women who work in them, today we’re putting the spotlight on our Tile business by giving the floor to Antoine Anger, who joined our team in May, following the departure of Marie, who left to pursue a new professional adventure in Quebec.

Here’s the account of a delighted and motivated thirty-something who fell into F&V by chance and is now passionate about his job!

This passion was built up over time. His first contract was with Leclerc, on a sandwich course. He stayed there for 10 years, working his way up through the ranks to become head of the F&V department! He learned the trade, developed expertise and a genuine interest in the products. What drives him is also offering the best to his customers. This is how he discovered @Lagache and developed good partnerships with @Simon Lemaire – fruit manager – and @Loïc Lagache – vegetable manager -. As time went by, Antoine became interested in the wholesale business. He wanted to understand the whole chain, to see “the other side of the fence”.

When he heard about this opportunity at Lagache, it was ideal for him! That’s how he describes his job: “Offering the early fruit growers of Hauts-de-France the best possible fruit that meets their needs, i.e. the expectations of their customers”. The key words? “Quality, freshness and novelty”. To achieve this, he develops and maintains strong relationships with producers.

The 1st thing that drives him: fruit. “Our products are exceptional, and that’s a pleasure. They’re natural, living, moving products. Each product has its own particular taste and flavour. A melon is not just a melon, it’s the work of the grower who adapts to the vagaries of the outside world to produce the best. Each product is unique. That’s why I love my products!

There’s also the importance of relationships: “Good relationships are at the heart of our business. Everyone respects each other professionally and as people. We know our customers, we know our producers, we know what one wants and what the other can produce. We create a bond; trust is at the heart of our relationship. It’s both professional and friendly, enabling everyone to do their job well”.

When he talks about his 2-month experience at Lagache: “It’s even better than I imagined! We do more volume, our customers are uncompromising and I like that. The customer helps us to be good and to stay good. I love the demands we make of our products, the need to go the extra mile and always give our best.
