Jason, an up-and-coming…
06 November 2024
At Lagache, we believe that a company’s greatest asset is the men and women who make it up. Knowing how to integrate employees and enable them to flourish and develop is part of our CSR approach and is reflected in our management culture, which is based on 3 of our values: commitment, trust and performance.
With us, there’s no tension between the generations, and there’s no need to “get your knickers in a twist”. Everyone who plays the game has a chance; at least, that’s our intention.
To illustrate this, I’d like to give the floor to Jason, who joined Lagache in 2020 as an order picker. In 4 years, he has moved up 4 times. Since 1 October, he has been a “vegetable salesman”.
Jason joined Lagache in the middle of Covid. At the time, he was working in the catering industry, but when the lockdown happened, he found himself out of a job. He was recruited by Lagache through a classified ad. Preparing orders must require precision and good organisation, he says to himself. So much the better, he liked it! He applied and got the job. Jason is meticulous in his work, he likes the contact with the customers and the merchandise, and he likes to be involved in making sure that everything runs smoothly. “It’s fun,” he says. When he talks about his job, Jason is clearly in his element, with a desire to help, contribute and progress.
A year later, after a training course offered by the company, he added another string to his bow and became a certifier. Broadening his scope to include quality was a further motivating factor. He was soon promoted to warehouse manager. He is an essential link in the value-creation chain: making things run smoothly, managing flows, making sure that everything goes smoothly, that the tile is “well kept, clean”, and inspiring people. He plays an important role between the sales staff and the customers, and enjoys the versatility: “I like having responsibilities and having several things to manage at the same time”, he explains. Jason also enjoys taking on new tasks and learning.
For some time, Jason had been expressing his desire to become a salesman. As soon as the opportunity arose, the job was his! Since 1 October, under the responsibility of Loïc Lagache, he has been a vegetable salesman on the floor. He started with garlic, onions and shallots and took charge from A to Z, from sourcing to sales. There’s no doubt that his state of mind, his rigour, his seriousness and his investment in the company have paid off! When he talks about the relationships with customers and producers, and the team spirit that went into training him for this new job, it’s with stars in his eyes!
Well done Jason, we’re delighted with how far you’ve come and we’re confident in your sales skills!
