Staying on the right course and acting at the right time: welcome to Lagache Expédition
26 June 2026
This week, Rachid, a sales representative and our apples and pears specialist, gives us a passionate behind-the-scenes look at a day at L’Expé!
At 6am, we’re all at HQ!
Our routine: we all have a coffee together and get organised for the morning. We go over everyone’s needs, the commitments we’ve made to customers and stock levels. The aim is to fulfil every customer’s order. To do this, we need to be clear about what’s missing and, therefore, what we need to buy.
From 7.00 am to 10.30 am is the time for trading on the boards. It’s a fast-paced period when it’s essential to know where you’re going, to have all the cards in hand and to make quick decisions. It’s a bit like trading on the stock market.
“In the team, we’re all product specialists, but we really work as a team. We sell all the products. For example, if there’s a high demand for tomatoes, everyone pitches in. We agree on a minimum price, divide up the brands – and therefore the display sections – and off we go!” explains Rachid.
From 10.30 am, once purchases have been made, it’s time for customers to be called. “We know exactly, down to the second, what’s been sold and what’s left to sell. We always have a complete overview of our stock, which means we can satisfy everyone and avoid making false promises.”
Customer satisfaction is at the heart of our strategy. Customers call us before, during or after the auction. We send them real-time prices; they call us back to finalise the sale, and we arrange transport straight away.
A large proportion of the goods are sent directly to our customers, who are spread throughout mainland France. This has three advantages: it optimises transport costs, reduces CO₂ emissions and ensures optimum freshness.
Once the orders have been placed, the whole team works together. The aim is to consolidate the orders, work out the number of pallets required and optimise transport.
At 2.30 pm, another essential ritual: we have a coffee before lunch.
“Working to the clock is stressful. These little moments to unwind, always in good spirits, are essential,” explains Rachid.
After a late lunch, the pace changes. It’s time to check sales figures, analyse stock levels, confirm with the team that everything’s running smoothly… and prepare for the next day.
And of course, on a day-to-day basis, we also liaise with our colleagues in the tiling department, to whom we supply certain products.
At 5 pm, the day comes to an end.
One thing is certain: on an expedition, a positive attitude goes a long way towards boosting both individual and team performance!
