Preparations for the exotic fruit season: on your marks, get set…
24 September 2026
Our products are perishable, sometimes delicate and have a short shelf life. To ensure we’re there at the right time with the right products, there’s one key word: plan ahead!
Antoine Anger, Sales Representative at Carreau Fruits, takes us behind the scenes to see how preparations for the festive season are getting under way. It’s a tightly-packed schedule to ensure everything is ready on the big day and to offer a beautiful display of exotic fruits.
Early October: let’s see how things are going!
✔️ With our clients: what will their needs, wishes and expectations be? These discussions enable us to draw up our specifications and plan as far ahead as possible.
The better prepared we are in advance, the more calmly we can tackle this always very hectic period, during which we’ll have to manage last-minute orders!
✔️ With our importers: we work with loyal, trusted partners, drawing on their areas of expertise. But this is also a time to listen to them, to take stock of what each has to offer and to discover new opportunities. We remain open to all possibilities, whilst of course remaining extremely vigilant about quality.
A golden rule: always have a Plan B!
“You’re never safe from transport problems, whether by sea or air. For us, a delivery cannot be 48 hours late,” explains Antoine.
Mid-November: things are picking up pace… let’s buy!
“I do my shopping between 10 and 20 November. By 5 December, everything must be up and running. Planning ahead for the essentials then allows me to make adjustments in real time, depending on needs and opportunities, and to remain responsive.”
Because planning a campaign isn’t just about planning every single detail down to the last product. It’s about securing the essentials early enough to retain flexibility when it matters most.
Why are exotic fruits a particular concern?
Because exotic fare is THE highlight of the festive season!
It isn’t necessarily the largest quantities, but it is what catches the eye and whets the appetite. Colours, shapes, scents, flavours… exotic fruits awaken the senses, bring a touch of originality to market stalls and create a surprise on Christmas tables.
They also take you on a journey. A new discovery for some, a holiday memory for others.
Anticipating, listening, ensuring safety, and then knowing how to adapt: that is what campaign preparation is all about. And here at Lagache, whilst Christmas still seems a long way off, preparations for the festive season are already well under way at Le Carreau!
