Summer students: a meaningful addition to the team at Lagache

The summer holidays are just round the corner… and here at Lagache, our high standards of service never take a break.
To ensure we continue to serve each of our customers to the same high standard, our Paving and Dispatch teams welcome several students every summer to help with order fulfilment.
Why this choice?
Because it fulfils a twofold aim:
➡️ To allow our teams to take a well-deserved break, whilst maintaining an efficient organisation. To stay competitive and motivated, you need to know when to take a break!
➡️ To guarantee our customers the same quality of service, the same turnaround times and the same level of attention, whatever the time of year. At Lagache, a small order deserves just as much care as a large one.
Train quickly… thanks to teamwork
Taking on seasonal workers also presents a challenge: getting them up and running quickly.
As soon as they arrive, each student is mentored for one to two days by an experienced order picker. The work is carried out in pairs, on the shop floor.
They quickly become more independent.
“By the third day, they’re able to prepare their first orders. Of course, they know the team is always on hand if needed. That’s part of the Lagache spirit,” explains @Victor Chombart, Sales Representative at Carreau Fruits.
The students usually start by preparing the simplest orders, which enables the whole team to serve all customers efficiently, without compromising on either quality or delivery times.
A summer job… but sometimes so much more
Every year, we welcome students looking for seasonal work, as well as young people who are considering their career prospects and wish to gain an insight into a specific profession.
For us, this initiative goes far beyond simply providing extra help during the summer.
It is fully in line with our CSR commitment: to pass on expertise, offer a first taste of the working world, create opportunities and, why not, inspire future careers.
At Lagache, we believe that sustainable performance is built through teamwork. And this also involves placing our trust in the younger generations.
Because passing on our knowledge means preparing for the future… whilst continuing to serve our customers to the same high standards, every day of the year.
