Cycling and rugby: two sports, one guiding principle
27 July 2026
At Lagache, our commitments go beyond the tile.
Once again this year, we are proud to support two sports clubs in our region: the Vélo Club de Hem (VCH) and the @Rugby Club Béthunois.
Why these two sports? Because, despite their differences, they embody the values that drive us every day: innovation, commitment, trust and performance.
At Lagache, a partnership only makes sense if we have something that brings us together.
🚴 Cycling: teamwork for peak performance
At first glance, cycling seems like an individual sport. Yet a race is rarely won alone.
In a peloton, everyone has a role and these roles rotate. The rider at the front sets the pace and pulls the others along, before dropping back to the rear of the peloton and making way. Thanks to this mutual understanding and trust, a group can ride up to 10 km/h faster than a lone cyclist.
This collective intelligence inspires us. At Lagache too, everyone contributes their expertise, but it is the team that makes the difference. Cycling also reminds us that progress means observing, adapting and pushing our limits together.
🏉 Rugby: moving forward together
Rugby is often summed up by that famous quote attributed to Churchill: ‘Rugby is a game of thugs, played by gentlemen.’
Behind its intensity, it is above all a lesson in teamwork. Communicating, anticipating, making quick decisions, playing for the team: no one moves forward alone.
At Lagache, we find this same philosophy. Our work demands responsiveness, strategy, adaptability and trust. Just like in rugby, everyone plays their own position… but it is the team as a whole that scores the tries and celebrates the victories.
Four values, one shared direction
Cycling and rugby seem to be polar opposites. One evokes endurance, the other power. Yet they are moving in the same direction.
Innovating to find the best path forward. Committing to a shared goal. Trusting in oneself, in others and in one’s surroundings. Striving for performance that is sustainable, human and collective.
That, too, is what our Compass is all about.
Supporting the local area means nurturing the future
Being a partner of a local club means supporting volunteers, encouraging community life and contributing to the vitality of our local area.
Because we firmly believe that a business has a role to play beyond its core activities. And because, on the pitch as at Lagache, the greatest successes are always achieved as a team.
